Gender Conference NYC Family and Youth Day 2019

This workshop will bring together youth to share their experiences of gender affirming surgery at NYU Langone Health. In addition, Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner, Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Associate Professor of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the Hansjorg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery at NYU Langone Health, and Nathan Levitt, Family Nurse Practitioner in NYU Langone’s gender affirmation surgery program, will address holistic care of patients at each stage of the surgery process from pre-operative to post-operative. This workshop will offer a unique space to hear both the surgery team and the patient perspective to address the physical and psychosocial aspects of surgery to prepare both patients and caregivers/families. We will address the many factors that impact quality of life before and after surgery for those who chose this path in their transition.
